Club History

Chartered on 22nd April 1993 with 28 members, the Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway serves the Bandar Sunway area, a former disused mining land that is today an integrated, self-contained resort township surrounded by lush greenery and that has received awards and international recognition as a tourism landmark.

The Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway is known for its fellowship and hospitality and its innovative projects that are aimed at reaching the community in Malaysia and the world. Our signature project, an artificial limb project titled 'Leg For The Legless' has been carried out for more than 10 years and benefited more than 250 recipients, We also sought to improve the health and living standards of the juvenile prisoners in Kajang prison, provide water filtration systems and a school library in Pulau Carey, support to a children's home called 'Rumah Shalom', Annual Youth Camp, Interact Quiz and many others.

The Rotary Club of Bandar Sunway is an EREY club and one of the strongest and consistent supporters of the Rotary Foundation with one Major donor, one Paul Harris Society Member, 14 Paul Harris fellows and four sustaining members. The club has sponsored as many as four Matching Grant projects outside Malaysia and is a consistent contributor to the Polio-Plus fund that seeks to eradicate Polio from the face of this earth.

Our International projects include the rebuilding of a school in Gujarat, India after a devastating earthquake, provision of school benches for Indian schools, sponsoring a mobile Mortuary, relief in terms of medical supplies in the wake of the Aceh Tsunami disaster, a Multi-media centre in Bangalore and a Vocational project that involves Prisoner reform in Kolkatta, India.
